Description
Francis I King of France and Eleanor Habsburg, Tudor Style
Eleanor of Austria was Francis I's second wife, it was a political marriage made under the treaty with Charles V, Eleanor's brother. She weilded little to no political power and it was only a marriage in name, she had no children with Francis. She was married first to Manuel I King of Portugal before he died who also been married to two of her aunts. She was the first child of Joanna the Mad and Philip the Handsome, or also known as Joanna Trastamara and Philip Habsburg.
They did not have any children, my theory is that Francis did not want any of his children to have loyalties to the Habsburgs.
Eleanor married Francis July 4, 1530 and was crowned Queen of France May 31, 1531.
Born: Nov 15, 1498
Died: Feb 25, 1558
