She is one of the 10 official Disney Princesses
Technically she is not a princess she is a chieftans daughter, so she is 1 of 4 commoner Official Disney Princesses and 1 of 2 to not become a princess through marriage (Mulan being the other).
She is the only Disney Princess to be based off a historical figure but interesting enough her actual name was Matoaka and the name Pocahontas was a nickname, although she later changed her name to Rebecca when she married John Rolfe.
