Description

Isabella I and Ferdinand II's 3 of their 5 kids.

Left to Right:
Crown Prince John/Juan and his wife Margaret of Austria, daughter of Maximilian I Habsburg Holy Roman Emperor and Mary Duchess of Burgundy. They had a deep love match after they married and apparently spent alot ot time in the marriage bed they married April 3 1497. He possibly caught a illness while traveling to his sister's Isabella's wedding to her new husband and died October 4. If his parents really had had Isabella's husband Afonso killed then they would be responsible for his death.

An interesting note the marriage alliance that had Joanna marry Philip and John/Juan marry Margaret was made Jan 20, 1495 but John/Juan and Margaret waited 2 years and 2 months to marry, if they had not waited but got married 3 months later then when John/Juan died he would have possibly already had a son or two, and Charles V would never have become so powerful.

Princess Isabella with her first Husband Crown Prince Afonso of Portugal, only child of King John II of Portugal and Eleanor of Viseu. They had a political marriage but it was also a love match they married April 18, 1490. Afonso died July 13, 1491 after falling from his horse even though he was a accomplished rider and also his castilian valet was never seen again, it is suspected he was killed by Isabella and Ferdinand. As his father was their enemy as he and his father objected to Isabella inheriting Castile until it was resolved. Isabella would later remarry Manuel I King of Portugal and die after giving birth to a boy who later died.

Joanna also known as Joanna the Mad and her husband Philip Habsburg, son of Maximilian I Holy Roman Emperor and Mary Duchess of Burgundy, who came to rule Spain. They had a unhappy marriage unlike her older siblings who had happy marriages. They married October 20, 1496. Philip later died September 25, 1506. Joanna would have 6 children, 2 sons and 4 daughters with her youngest Catherine born 3 and half months after his death.
