Description

Ares God of War using the Azalea's Warrior Maker

Ares God of War but also of Battles, Civil Order & Rebellion, Voilence & Rage, Manliness & Courage, and Fear & Cowardice. He was also on the council of 12 Olympians. He was the son of Hera and possibly Zeus or he has no father. And was the consort of Aphrodite his true love, and possibly her husband after her divorce from Hephaestus.

By Aphrodite he became the father of
1. Deimos - God of Fear
2. Phobos - God of Terror
3. Harmonia - Goddess of Harmony (marital harmony and harmonious action in war)
4. Eros - Winged God of Love
5. Anteros - Winged God of Requited Love
6. Pothos - Winged God of Passionate Longing
7. Himeros - Winged God of Desire
8. Paregoros - Goddess of Consolation, comfort and soothing words
9. Hedylogus - Winged God of Sweet Talk
10. Peitho - Goddess of Persuasion, seduction and Charming Speech. She became the wife of Hermes.
11. Phthonus - God of Envy and Jealoucy
12. Adrestia - Goddess of Revenge and Balance
13. Enyalios - A war god
14. Cytherea - Goddess of Love (is actually another name for Aphrodite but I am making it into another child)
15. Ekekheiria - Goddess of Armistice and Truce and cessation of all hostilities.
16. Polemos - God of War and Battle.
17. Kleta - Goddess of Fame and Glory, was worshipped in Sparta and was a charitie
18. Phaenna - A Charitie Goddess who was worshipped in Sparta
19. Kalleis - A Charitie Goddess who was also the Goddess of Beauty
Note: For Enyalios, either Aphrodite, Eris or Enyo are listed as possible mothers although Aphrodite may be the mother. Polemos has no parent listed so I am assuming he is Ares and Aphrodite's son. Kleta and Phaenna are listed in with different charities and the two were worshipped in Sparta, so I am assuming they were Ares and Aphrodite's kids.

It is very possible that he is the father of The Makhai who were 5 Gods and Goddesses of Battle and Combat, if he was the father then its possible Aphrodite was the mother. They were
20. Kydoimos - Goddess of Confusion, who haunted the Battlefield
21. Homados - God of Battlenoise
22. Palioxis - Goddess of backrush, flight and retreat from battle
23. Proioxis - Goddess of Onrush and battlefield pursuit

His main area of worship was Sparta and he had a major Rivalry with Athena. He was considered very handsome.

Deimos and Phobos were his companions. As well as Cydoemus (a son of Eris), Enyo (his sister), Eris, Nike and Others.

He was trapped by the Aloadai in a bronze jar for 13 months, he was freed when the aloadai's mother revealed were he was to Hermes who with the help of Artemis freed him.

He was most infamous for when his half brother Hephastus captured him and Aphrodite heph's wife in a gold net and tried to humilate them for their affair but it backfired on Heph and he was humilated. Heph later divorced Aphrodite after the event and married Aglaia and he possibly married Aphrodite.

His roman name was Mars and the Planet Mars was named from him and the moons from his two sons.

When he learned of the assault on his mortal daughter Alcippe by Halirrhothius (son of Poseidon) he killed him from ravashing her. Poseidon took him to trial for the Murder which was held on a hill in Athens were he was aquited it gave rise to the name Areopagus (or Hill of Ares or Ares Rock) which afterward became famous as the site of a court of justice.

Some of his places of worship in Southern Greece were Attica, Argolis, Lakonia, Elis, Achaia, and Arcadia. In central greece Boiotia, and Aitolia. In Northern Greece Thresprotia and Thrace. As well as Latium in Southern Italy.

Plants that were associated with him was Manna Ash. Animals that were sacred to him was the Serpent, vulture, woodpecker and eagle-owl. Also sacred Icon items to him was the Helmet and Spear.

Interesting enough the Greek Gods are divided into categories he is listed with the Theoi Polemikoi (Gods of War), his son Deimos and Phobos are also part of this group.

Note: On the left is Ares in casual attire and on the right in his battle garb. Also Ares has Azure blue eyes that either get darker or lighter depending on his mood and very light blonde hair or Sandy blonde hair.
